What makes us different

We've been working intensively with allied health since 2016.

With over 600 allied health clients, we've gained deep insight into the needs and challenges of the sector.

We understand the  social work industry.

"I felt like I was doing all the work myself."
My previous accountant didn’t specialise in my industry, and everything felt very general. I often found myself researching the ATO website just so I could tell them what I might be able to claim. It was frustrating and left me feeling unsure if I was getting the right advice.

Why We Started Accountant for Social Workers

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with a wide variety of clients—from café owners and tradies to dentists and airline staff. But a turning point came in 2016, even though we didn’t realise it at first.

An allied health professional with a growing psychology practice in Adelaide came to us for tax advice. We built a strong working relationship with her, which continues to this day. We found that allied health had unique quirks and specific financial needs, and we loved the challenge of helping her navigate them. We dug into the details, streamlined her systems, and found ways to improve how she managed her tax and bookkeeping.

That experience opened our eyes to the world of health professionals—and it wasn’t long before we started meeting more people in similar roles, especially social workers. The more we worked with them, the more we realised social workers were facing the same challenges, only with even less support.

We could see the dedication and hard work that the social workers were putting in - listening, advocating, and helping people through the hardest moments of their lives. But when it came to managing their own business finances, many felt stressed, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn.  As we spoke to our social worker clients, we heard more than one feeling frustrated with business paperwork and bookkeeping say “I didn’t become a social worker to deal with this.”

We knew we could make a real difference.

With our combined experience in tax and bookkeeping, we put our heads together to build a service with knowledge of the social work industry that would support social workers, explaining things clearly and helping social workers feel confident about their money decisions.

Since then, we’ve put in the work to understand the world of social work—everything from supervision fees and CPD requirements, to insurance, Medicare, fluctuating income, and making bookkeeping as simple and stress-free as possible.

We're proud to help social workers with their business and personal finances, so social workers can keep doing what they do best - helping people.
